New Alamo Drafthouse being Built in South Austin

At 5701 W. Slaughter Lane, along Mopac, the next AlamoDrafthouse is being built, but there is no set due date to when this will be open.   This Alamo is planned to have seven screens and a tequila-themed bar called the 400 Rabbits.  All of the screens will have the capability to show 3-d films.  This will be the sixth Alamo Drafthouse built in Austin.

The Alamo Drafthouse gives people a unique cinema experience.  It sells meals as well as movie foods like nachos.  There’s also a bar and drinks are served right to the seats.  This new location is expected to give a sense of community to the area by allowing the residents to walk or ride their bikes to it.

However, there are arguments over the location of this Alamo.  The land it’s built on borders a greenbelt and many people believe that the construction is cutting down too many trees.  The noises from construction also bother the local residents.   I personally dislike the Alamo being built there.  It has turned my family’s bluebonnet field into a dusty asphalt parking lot.

  1. It's terrible that the Alamo Drafthouse is destroying a bunch of nature.
