It's a GTL Christmas

If you are looking to spice up your Christmas tree this year, then look no further. They are now selling Jersey Shore tree ornaments, including everyone’s favorite characters Snooki, The “Situation” and DJ Pauly D. It figures that these ornaments will be plastic because well, they are pretty ‘fake’ themselves. As a Jew, I’m not quite sure what someone would put on their Christmas tree, but if I had to decorate one, I would probably get these ornaments. I mean, when Santa puts those presents under the tree, wouldn’t you want to make him laugh? Plus having Snooki as an ornament is kinda like having a basketball ornament, and I would like to have a basketball ornament. I might even consider buying a Jersey Shore menorah or even dreidel if they had one. I mean come on, that would be pretty cool. I have a basketball court menorah and that is totally boss itself. Anyway for all you people celebrating Christmas, go tell your parents to get this.
P.S.  Kim Kardashian, Emma Watson and Katy Perry, I think you three are amazing and I still really want to meet y’all.
P.P.S I’m starting a comment challenge, so whoever writes the funniest comment will win my sandwich.  Or anything from my lunch.

Lead for Feature on Mazie

Mazie looks out the window on a Saturday morning, it's overcast, perfect for filming. She packs up her Canon 550d t21 and tripod, while deciding what she should film outside. This is Mazie's dream profession, but she isn't doing it as a profession.

Mazie is a freshman at the Liberal Arts and Science Academy and has loved filming since the third grade. Many other teens try to fit their film hobby in their schedule like Mazie is doing.

Lead on the feautre story about Emily Hagins

In a dark unknown place, creepy music gives goosebumps with the water drops dripping and strange wind like sounds. The audience’s heart start to pound and they start to chew on their finger nails in anxiety.  Suddenly, the audience erupts with laughter from how unexpectedly hilarious the scary movie turned out to be. Emily Hagins had accomplished her goal: she had made the horror movie My Sucky Teen Romance both funny and scary.
Emily Hagins finished up My Sucky Teen Romance in her senior year. She showed the movie at SXSW, Alamo Drafthouse and Fright Fest in London. Not only did she make this movie, but she produced “The Retelling”, and a zombie movie named “Pathogen.” From Pathogen, she was youngest recipient to win the Texas Filmakers Production Fund grant from the Austin Film Society.

Lead for Feature Article about Neil Flynn

“I want to be the Westview Wildcats,” yelled one boy to the coach.  “Yah, Westview Wildcats is good,” murmured all the other boys on the basketball team in agreement.

“Wait a second there we need to take a vote to make sure it’s fair,” said the coach.  After finally rallying up the votes, and great deliberation the coach finally called out,” Well it’s unanimous we’re now the Westview Pillowcases.”

It’s hard to imagine that a plain, albeit funny basketball coach would end up as the actor Neil Flynn who’s now known as the janitor on Scrubs and the father on The Middle.   Looking at him it’s easy to tell that it takes a lot more to be an actor than simply being good at acting.

Respect My Authoritah!

Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of the hit comedy show South Park, have agreed to continue the show until 2016, or for three more seasons. This makes sure that South Park will continue to be the longest running cable animated series. This also ensures that the show will continue to be written, directed, and edited by the masterminds behind the show. I am thrilled because this show is hilarious and I can still watch it when I get to college.
For those who do not know, South Park is by far one of the most vulgar, inappropriate shows on television. But it is also one of the most hilarious. It is the top rated Emmy and Peabody award winning television series.
South Park never fails to surprise me and what they are allowed to do and put on television, and with three more seasons, who knows what Parker and Stone are going to do. These two are such geniuses, they even created a huge hit on Broadway, with a musical called Book of Mormon, which was even the winner of many Tony awards, including best musical.

P.S.: Kim Kardashian, I still want to meet you anytime. And Emma Watson too.

The Scoop on Emily Hagin's My Sucky Teen Romance

Last Friday, I interviewed Emily Hagins at Panera Bread.  As many of you may already know, she's a former student of LASA who made My Sucky Teen Romance in her senior year.  She used to be terrified of scary movies until she saw Undead from Austrailia. Through that movie, she realized that horror movie could be both scary and funny. She decided to incorporate this idea into My Sucky Teen Romance.

Above is Emily Hagins (person in the green shirt) directing the movie.

When the whole teen vampire craziness with the Twilight series was going on, she decided to make a parady on it. Not only is it a parady, but one of the actors, Devin Bonee, actually looks like Robert Patterson.

Above is a picture of  Devin Bonee in one of the movie scenes

Emily worked hard and all her efforts paid off in the end. Since vampires can’t be out during the day, her filming took place from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. She only had one building to do the entire movie and was on a tight budget. Despite all these challenges, she managed to put an amazing movie together.  Her movie was shown at SXSW, Alamo Drafthouse, and London. Her advice to other teens who want to become moviemakers someday is, “If you have perseverance and drive and you just get through the little hiccups sometimes there are happy accidents.”

Neil Flynn

Those of you that have seen Scrubs probably know Neil Flynn as the weird janitor, or if you watch The Middle, you would know him as the dad Mike Heck.  If you haven’t watched either of these then now is your time to learn about him.

Neil Flynn is a fairly popular actor and he’s appeared in a wide variety of shows and movies.  His most well known roles are the janitor from the medical comedy-drama, Scrubs, and the father Mike Heck from the American family comedy, The Middle.  Other things that he’s been in include; Kim Possible, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Mean Girls, and Hoot.  The Middle is his current acting job.

He was born in Chicago and grew up in Waukegan, Illinois.  Neil is a very nice and funny man, not at all snotty or bratty like you imagine some actors.  My mom met him in high school and has been friends ever since.  The pictures are from her trip last week to see him and were taken on the set of The Middle.
